Park Boulevard

I developed the concept and oversaw production for a neighborhood mural on Park Boulevard that nods to quirky local history. I researched local stories and designed humorous ostrich characters, a parade of yellow silhouettes marching along a dark storefront wall under the line Keep Your Head Up. I planned scale and installation with the property owners and specified weather-resistant materials and coatings. The work reached past the mural into color for the whole corner. Concept elevations of Park Boulevard and Howard Avenue and a courtyard coffee shed mapped color blocking with dimension callouts, and the finished block has an orange and navy storefront with mint green address numerals and entry and a rainbow-striped building corner. The page follows it from before photos to painters on ladders to spotlights on the ostriches at night. The tongue-in-cheek piece transformed the site into a photo-worthy icon and local talking point.
