I created residential waste reference materials and guides for the City of Poway’s waste contractor. The work included curating a type, image, and iconography system that people will actually want to look through and follow. The set includes a City of Poway Food Donation Guide for businesses and organizations, with a source reduction spread, a safe food handling checklist, and a blank form for recording food donation deliveries. A series of single-page info sheets explains California's SB 1383 organics mandate and what belongs in the organics, recycling, and trash bins. Each sheet has its own color: pink, green, orange, and blue. A big, bold headline asks a simple question, and a grid of friendly line icons answers it, with short notes on pickup rules and what to leave out. It's not quite saving whales in the Antarctic, but I love being able to play my part in global sustainability.
