Donut Mag

I curated, designed, illustrated, and produced a playful zine celebrating San Diego’s donut culture. I conducted interviews and research, wrote and edited the copy, crafted the photo, type, and illustration layouts, and managed print and distribution. Every spread runs an oversized lowercase headline in bold red sans-serif that overlaps cut-out donut photos on a white page. “The origin of donuts” sets the history in narrow text columns beside a glazed donut. “This week’s shops” pairs a sprinkled donut with a sidebar of shop reviews rated in red stars. “So hot right now” lays out a grid of individual donuts, each with its name and a short write-up. Small red italic asides, such as “what’s your favorite donut?” and “get out there and check ’em out!”, keep the voice conversational. The zine became a beloved local guide and design artifact.
